Ann
Keen
May 3, 1937 — Mar 3, 2026
Ann Keen, 88, of Viera, Florida, formerly of Sarasota, Florida, Huntington Station, New York, and Farmingdale, New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
Born and raised in Farmingdale, New York, Ann was the middle child of seven siblings. Growing up in an active household instilled in her a lifelong appreciation for learning, responsibility, and community involvement. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Trinity College in Washington, D.C., followed by a Master's degree in Chemistry from Smith College.
Ann began her career at Grumman Aerospace, where she contributed her talents in the field of chemistry. She later devoted many years to raising her children, often referring to her role as a "Domestic Engineer" as the most challenging—and rewarding—position she ever held.
A natural leader and dedicated volunteer, Ann generously gave her time and talents to her community. She organized religious education programs, led scout troops, and served in several leadership roles, including President of the United States Air Force Academy Parents Club of Long Island and President of the Farmingdale High School Reunion Committee.
Her commitment to service continued through her volunteer work as a literacy tutor and at the clothing and food pantry at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in Huntington. She also served as the CYO girls' basketball parish coordinator and as a New York State basketball official with the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS).
Ann had a lifelong love of athletics and remained an enthusiastic supporter of women's sports and equal opportunity in athletics. She enjoyed basketball, volleyball, field hockey, tennis, and golf throughout her life.
In addition to her many community activities, Ann was an avid reader, a dedicated gardener, an enthusiastic bridge player, and a valued member of her trivia team. Ann will be remembered most for her kindness, generosity, and caring spirit. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
