Anthony "Onofrio" Alaimo, age 79, of Titusville, Florida, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Anthony was born in Sicily, and lived a life that spanned countries, cultures, and many chapters. In his early years he lived in Venezuela before later moving to Brooklyn in New York City. He eventually made Florida his home while continuing to travel back and forth to Italy throughout his life.
Anthony was a man of many talents and passions. Over the years he served in the US Army, owned restaurants, and was a talented chef and entrepreneur. Later in life he became a professor of Romance languages and Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He was a strong and cultured man who faced life's challenges head-on and left a lasting impression on those who knew him. Above all, he was the father of six daughters whom he encouraged to be strong and capable women.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Natalia; his six daughters; twelve grandchildren; and two sisters in Italy. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and granddaughter Kayla.
