Betty J. Eldred of Merritt Island, Florida, passed away on September 13, 2026, at the age of 87. Betty was born on November 1, 1938, in Shamrock, Texas. She spent most of her career working for various government agencies while her husband, Donald, served 30 years in the USAF. After his retirement from the military, they both worked at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Betty earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in human resources and retired from NASA. After retirement, Betty was a volunteer docent for NASA Kennedy Space Center. Betty and Donald then spent many years traveling the country in various RV’s. Betty was also a proud registered native American citizen of the Cherokee nation.

Betty is survived by her son, Harry Eldred, daughter Kristina Eldred, and two grandchildren, Aramis Jackson, and Jocelyn Weaver.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Donald Eldred, parents Floyd and Marie Campbell, brothers Floyd Campbell Jr., Charles Campbell, and Johnny Campbell.
