Obituary

Bonnie Faye Stevens, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grammie, great-grammie, friend, and the heart of her family, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026. She was born on April 26, 1945, in Jacksonville, Florida to Aaron and Audrey Hunsucker. Bonnie grew up in Jacksonville Beach with her parents and siblings, living on the second story of her uncle’s shop. A beauty inside and out, as a teenager Bonnie was crowned Miss Jacksonville Beach.

On September 15, 1962, Bonnie married the love of her life, Richard Stevens. Together they shared almost 64 years of marriage, building a beautiful life and a family filled with love. Their life together was a testament to devotion and commitment.

Bonnie lived a life centered around the people she loved. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and neighbors. She was the kind of person who always made room for one more at her table, one more person to care for, and one more reason to give. A mama bear to her core, Bonnie was a stouthearted defender, champion, and advocate for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, sparing no effort to provide every opportunity and comfort she could.

Bonnie and Richard raised their family in the small town of Mayo, Maryland, where Bonnie became much more than a mother and homemaker – she became the beating heart of the community. Bonnie’s home was a gathering place not only for her own family, but for her friends and neighbors as well.

Bonnie was a stay-at-home mother who dedicated her life to raising her children and caring for everyone around her. As a mother, she was one of the most giving and selfless people anyone could ever know. Her children always came before everything and everyone. She was there for every important milestone, every celebration, every difficult moment, and every occasion that mattered. She never missed anything. Her family could always count on her to be there. Even into her seventies and eighties and to the very last minute, Bonnie was a regular and committed attendee of soccer games, graduations, birthdays, and every other notable life event, supporting her loved ones to the best of her ability.

Anyone who knew Bonnie knew how much she loved to cook and bake. Her kitchen was a place of love, comfort, and togetherness. She cooked and baked not simply because she enjoyed it, but because feeding people was one of the ways she showed them how much she cared. Family, friends, and neighbors were all blessed by something that came from Bonnie's kitchen. There was always enough to share, and somehow, there was always room for one more. Throughout her life Bonnie’s table was a place to gather, share, and make merry for everyone she loved. Sure to please even the pickiest of eaters, Bonnie’s cuisine focused on savory Southern cooking and the biggest, and usually sweetest, desserts she could muster.

Bonnie was extremely giving, selfless, smart, beautiful, and fiercely devoted to the people she loved. She was also wonderfully hard-headed—a quality that was unmistakably Bonnie and that those who loved her will remember with a smile. Bonnie had a spine of steel and was not afraid to step up for the people she loved. She formed many lasting friendships throughout her life and had a way of making people feel cared for and welcomed.

Her greatest legacy is the love she poured into her family. Bonnie taught her children and everyone around her how to love unwaveringly, give generously, stand by the people you love, and never stop showing up for them. Her love was constant, protective, and unconditional.

Bonnie is survived by her children: Ricky Stevens and his spouse, Daphne; Lisa Johnson and her spouse, Rocky; Dennis Stevens; and Tammy Stevens.

She leaves behind five beloved grandchildren: Terrah Boring and her spouse, Josh; Rocky Johnson Jr.; Alayna Hall and her spouse, Tony; Paige Stevens; and Christopher Stevens.

She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Bryson Boring, Jayce Boring, Axton Hall, and Brady Hall.

Though Bonnie is no longer here to fill the kitchen with the smell of something baking, gather everyone around her table, or be there in person for the next milestone, the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Her family will carry her lessons, her laughter, her strength, her recipes, and most of all, her steadfast and unconditional love with them always.

Bonnie gave her whole heart to her family. Her greatest gift was simply loving us—and she taught us all how to love fiercely in return. Bonnie was a rare individual that could love selflessly and without limit.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Celebration of Life for Bonnie

In honoring Bonnie's wishes, we invite friends and family to gather together to celebrate the love she shared so freely with everyone whose life she touched. Bonnie’s favorite color was RED so feel free to wear her color!

Bonnie's greatest joy was bringing people together. She believed that life's most precious moments were found in the company of family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

There was one thing that brought Bonnie almost as much happiness as being surrounded by the people she loved — desserts. They were her favorite indulgence and one of her greatest pleasures in life.

In keeping with Bonnie's special request, we ask that each family bring a homemade dessert to share in her honor. Whether it's a treasured family recipe, a favorite pie, a batch of cookies, a decadent cake, or any sweet treat made with love, your contribution will help create the celebration Bonnie envisioned. We will also be serving light finger foods.

Nothing would have made Bonnie happier than knowing that the people she loved were gathered together, enjoying one another's company while treating themselves to a table filled with delicious desserts.

As we come together to celebrate her life, may we share not only sweet treats but also sweet memories. Let us laugh, tell stories, and remember the love, kindness, and joy that Bonnie brought into our lives.

After all, a celebration filled with family, friends, and desserts would have been Bonnie's idea of a perfect day.
