Born and raised in Cali, Colombia, Carmen was a woman of remarkable determination and compassion. In her younger years, she trained as a nurse, dedicating herself to caring for others. At the age of 21, she married the love of her life, Tomas Escobar, beginning a lifelong partnership centered on family, perseverance, and love.

Together, Carmen and Tomas built a family and raised four children: Carmen Aleman, Jhon Escobar, Ronald Escobar, and Alexandra Westen. Ten years after their marriage, Carmen and Tomas moved to New York with their son Jhon, while their eldest daughter, Carmen, remained in Colombia. In New York, they established deep roots and built a life filled with family, friendship, and hard work. It was there that they welcomed their younger children, Ronald and Alexandra. Carmen lived in New York for most of her life and spent her final year in Florida with family.

Carmen was a mother who dedicated and devoted her life to her children. Her family was always her greatest priority and source of pride. She was a woman of strong character, a fierce advocate for what she believed in, and a fighter through life’s challenges. She loved deeply and wholeheartedly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

Beyond her devotion to family, Carmen embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. She loved to travel and was fortunate to explore many countries throughout Europe, experiencing different cultures and creating cherished memories along the way. Her adventurous spirit, sense of humor, and love of life remained with her throughout her 91 years.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tomas Escobar.

She is survived by her daughter, Carmen Aleman, and her children, Maribel Aleman and Juan Carlos Aleman; her son, Jhon Escobar, his wife, Luzdary Escobar, and their children, Stephen Escobar, his wife and their three children, and Giselle Winkler, her husband and their two children; her son, Ronald Escobar, his wife, Kimberly Escobar, and their son, Ronald Tomas Escobar, and his son; and her daughter, Alexandra Westen, her husband, Marc Westen, and their three children.She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Marlene Gonzalez, Teresa Gonzalez, Lida Gonzalez, and Damary Gonzalez, as well as many extended family members and dear friends whose lives she touched throughout the years.

Those who knew Carmen will remember her infectious laughter, her quick wit, her strong will, and her unmistakable sense of humor. She was never afraid to speak her mind, stand up for what she believed in, or fight for those she loved. Her intoxicating laughter could fill a room, and her love could fill a heart. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created, the values she instilled, and the love she shared will remain with her family forever.

Carmen’s life was a testament to resilience, devotion, and unconditional love. We celebrate her life with gratitude and will carry her memory with us always.

Carmen vivió en Nueva York la mayor parte de su vida y pasó su último año en Florida junto a su familia.

Carmen fue una madre que dedicó su vida por entero a sus hijos. Su familia fue siempre su mayor prioridad y motivo de orgullo. Era una mujer de carácter fuerte, firme defensora de sus convicciones y una luchadora ante los desafíos de la vida. Amaba profunda y sinceramente, especialmente a sus nietos y bisnietos, quienes le brindaban una inmensa alegría.

Más allá de su dedicación a la familia, Carmen afrontaba la vida con curiosidad y entusiasmo.
