Ernest L. Hedberg passed away on April 12, 2026 in Merritt Island, Fl after a long battle with Dementia.

He was born on April 21, 1949, in Olean, New York. He was the son of Oscar and Marian Hedberg.

After graduating from Olean High School in 1967 he entered the Air Force. He was discharged in 1972 after serving for four years including a tour of duty in Thailand.

In 1972 he married the former Joyce Smith. They moved to St. Petersburg in 1972 where he began his career with G.T.E now Verizon until his retirement in 2002.

His hobbies included fishing, puzzles, dominoes and watching GRIT on tv.

He is survived by his wife Joyce, sons Matthew Hedberg of Titusville, FL, and Corey (May) Hedberg of Gibsonton, Fl. Beloved grandchildren Shaelynn Hedberg and Nathan Hedberg both of Florida and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Marian Hedberg, and his brother Edwin Hedberg.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.
