Gary Patrick MacDonald of Merritt Island, Florida, passed away on December 3, 2025. He was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Edith and Donald MacDonald.

Gary spent many years running his plant nursery in Merritt Island, a place he poured so much of himself into. He loved movies, good food, working out, and staying busy, but nothing brought him more joy than his family. He was funny, a true prankster at heart, and loved messing with his kids and his ex-wife just to make them laugh. That playful spirit was one of the things everyone loved most about him.

He is survived by his children, Dr. Gary MacDonald Jr., Cortland MacDonald, Abby MacDonald, and Eden MacDonald; his grandchildren, Andi and Niko Tata; his son-in-law, Mark Tata; and his ex-wife and best friend, Debra MacDonald. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Donald MacDonald; and his brothers, Donny and Mike.

When he became a grandpa, lovingly known as "Grandpoo," it made him the happiest person in the world. Andi and Niko lit up his life in a way nothing else ever had. Being Grandpoo was his favorite role, and he soaked up every moment with them.

Gary was the person you could call for anything, whether you needed help, advice, or just someone to joke around with. His children and grandchildren were the center of his world, and he showed up for them in every way that mattered.

He will be missed more than words can say, and his humor, warmth, and love for his family will live on in all who knew him.
