Obituary

George J. Schoen, age 87, of Titusville, Florida, passed away on December 27, 2025, at Cape Canaveral Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Barbara J. Schoen, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.

George proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, stationed at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and successful career as a mechanical engineer with The Barden Corporation in Danbury, Connecticut, where he worked for 28 years.

After retiring, George and Barbara moved to Titusville, Florida, where George devoted himself to service and community. He volunteered over 4,000 hours at the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and shared his love of music by singing with the Titusville Singing Seniors, Golden Tones, and the Indian River United Methodist Church Choir. He also enjoyed woodworking and, most of all, spending time with his family.

George was a thoughtful, loving man who touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by his daughters, Susan Wyatt of Mims, Florida, and Cindy Richardson and her husband, Jimmy, of Titusville, Florida; his grandsons, Neill Richardson and his wife, Brittany, of Titusville, Florida, and Scott Richardson of Titusville, Florida; and his great-granddaughter, Harper.

A hymn sing and ice cream social to celebrate George's life will be held at the Indian River United Methodist Church Chapel in Titusville, Florida, on February 21, 2026, at 2:30 p.m.
