Joan "Joanie"
Scott
Feb 13, 1937 — Oct 4, 2026
Joan Scott, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and mentor, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, at the age of 89. Joan was born February 13, 1937, in the Bronx, New York. She grew up with a strong sense of family, loyalty, and tradition. On November 22, 1958, Joan married the love of her life, Steve Scott. Joan, a devoted firefighter’s wife, was a constant source of love and support to her husband. They moved their family upstate to Monroe, New York, where she devoted herself to her family as a homemaker. Eventually, they retired to Florida, embraced the sunshine and began a new chapter owning and operating a bar and grill.
Joanie treasured family dinners and holiday gatherings, especially Christmas. She enjoyed shopping, getting her hair and nails done with the girls and on occasion, with her grandson too. Joan could be found watching old movies, listening to Elvis Presley, crocheting special gifts for her grandchildren or burying her nose in a good book. Joan was known for her sharp wit, and ability to make people laugh. She had a remarkable memory for the important things in life and never forgot a birthday or holiday. She showed the people she loved just how much they meant to her. Joan also cherished the many lifelong friendships she formed. Many of those friendships, she developed through AA, where she became a mentor. Her compassion, wisdom, humor, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on many lives.
Joan is now reunited with her beloved husband, Steve; her mother, Josephine DeLuca; and her brother, Raymond DeLuca. We find comfort knowing that those she loved and missed are once again together. She leaves behind a family who adored her: three children, a beloved daughter-in-law, six grandchildren and their spouses, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many cherished nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind countless friends whose lives were made better by knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in December to honor Joan and her love of Christmas.
