John Thomas
Bryant
Feb 25, 1946 — Apr 27, 2026
John Thomas "Tom" Bryant, age 80, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on April 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and lives touched wherever he went.
Tom was born on February 25, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, to John Marion and Ruth Bryant. A proud seventh-generation Texan, he grew up with a deep sense of heritage and community. As a youth, he played in the Pony League Championship in Monterrey, Mexico—an early reflection of his drive and team spirit, and his life-long love of baseball. He graduated from John Marshall High School in San Antonio in 1964.
On February 13, 1965, Tom married the love of his life, Jacqueline Diane Athey Bryant. Their 61-year marriage was a lasting example of commitment, partnership, and devotion.
Tom began his professional life in public service, entering the police academy and serving with the San Antonio Police Department. He later transitioned into the insurance industry, where he found his true calling. In 1975, he became a founding partner of The Pollock-Bryant Agency, eventually becoming its sole owner. A forward-thinking leader, Tom was a pioneer in the early use of computer systems for insurance accounting, marketing, and billing. His expertise made him a sought-after speaker for insurance organizations across the country. He held both CIC and CPIA certifications and served on the National Professional Insurance Agents Automation Committee as well as the Texas PIA Board of Directors.
While his professional accomplishments were significant, Tom's greatest devotion was to his family and his faith. He was a dedicated student of the Bible and found deep joy in teaching others about Jesus—whether in formal classes or one-on-one conversations. As an ordained minister, he had the honor of officiating weddings for family members and friends, a role he cherished deeply.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie; his sons, Travis Allan Bryant and Trenton Edward Bryant; daughter-in-law Holly Bryant; grandchildren Hilary, Travis Austin, Elizabeth, Mason, and Abigayl; and great-grandchildren Hazel and Zeke. He is also survived by his brothers, Fred Bryant and his wife Janice, and Craig Bryant and his wife Jane, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held on a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate in his name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or to a charity of your choice. Donations to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation can be made through his memorial page: https://dogood.t2t.org/campaign/in-memory-of-john-t-bryant/c797760.
