Kathy Doreen
Lynch
Jul 14, 1949 — Dec 4, 2025
Kathy (Casey) Doreen Lynch passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025 in Rockledge, Florida. In 2022 she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and dementia, but those were only her final experiences in a body she traveled in for 76 years.
She was born in Texas, but as a military brat her father's career carried her all over the country which created her adventurous outlook on life. She had a rebellious spirit and as a teenager she decided her name was Casey, much to her mother's dismay, and it wasn't until she was in her 40s while they were visiting Peru that her mother acquiesced and stopped calling her 'Kathy'. To her friends and family she was 'Casey' from high school throughout her life.
After graduating high school Casey attended Kent State University in Ohio and then decided to move to Boston, Massachusetts. While in Boston, in addition to buying a motorcycle for her commute – unusual for a young woman of that time – she met Joan McLean who would become her lifelong friend. After saving up some money Casey and Joan quit their jobs in Boston and spent several months backpacking around Europe. When they ran out of money and came back to the States, Joan introduced Casey to her cousin Bill Lynch, whom Casey married in 1974. In addition to becoming a mom while she was married to Bill, Casey received her pilot and scuba license because she 'wanted to conquer air, land and sea'.
Casey's life took a trajectory change when she was unexpectedly widowed in 1987 and in 1993 she and her daughter Brandie moved to Florida to be closer to Casey's parents in Daytona Beach, FL. She enjoyed traveling and cruises with her friends and family whenever the opportunity arose but she lived in Central and South Florida for the rest of her life.
Professionally, Casey worked mostly as a bookkeeper and while she had several jobs and colleagues that were impactful on her life, she preferred working in Academia. Her final two decades were spent working in the Business Office of Saint Andrews School in Boca Raton where she enjoyed her colleagues as well as the culture.
Casey loved her friends and family. She was blessed to have the opportunity to live down the street from her parents for the last years of their lives in Delray Beach, FL where she spent a lot of time with family, assisted planning family reunions and holiday gatherings and celebrations. She was smart, funny, witty and as her dear friend Linda Raiamiaki said 'Casey had a smile that could melt an ice cube.'
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lt. Gen Joseph and Doris DeLuca, her husband, Bill Lynch and her siblings, Pat, Joel and Tina Deluca. She is survived by her daughter Brandie Lynch of Rockledge, FL; her siblings, Barbara Edwards of New Carlisle, OH; Michael DeLuca of Boca Raton, FL, Teresa Merelman of Stowe, VT and Marisa DeLuca of Delray Beach, FL as well as numerous beloved friends and extended family.
A small Celebration of Life will be held on March 4, 2026 in Delray Beach, FL at sunrise. As an Air Force General, Casey's father would honor March 4 every year as the 'Most Progressive Day of the Year' because in typical military 'dad joke' fashion, 'March Forth' is the day we march forward'. Throughout the years it has become an unofficial family holiday.
For those unable to attend, we ask that you celebrate and 'March Fourth' on your life journey, whether it be taking action on something you have been delaying or setting down grief on the 'Most Progressive day of the year!'
In lieu of flowers, Casey would request that any donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation.
