On Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the age of 83, Kenneth Poimboeuf Sr. went home to his loving savior. He lived a life defined by innovation, devotion, faith, and family.

In August 1965 he married his loving wife of 60 years, Jeri Riley.

In January 1966, he began his engineering work for Chrysler Corporation's Space Division in New Orleans. In 1969, he accepted a position with NASA at Kennedy Space Center. His career with NASA spanned some of the most pioneering years of human spaceflight. After retiring from NASA in 1998, he continued his engineering work as a consultant and later with a prime contractor at Kennedy Space Center, helping prepare Launch Complex 39B for the next generation of space vehicles. Space exploration remained one of his lifelong passions, as did the many friendships and professional relationships he treasured throughout his career.

While his professional accomplishments were extraordinary, nothing brought him greater joy than his family—especially his nine beloved grandchildren.

Though life brought its share of trials and tribulations, he remained thankful for the love of his family, the support of his church family, and the companionship of lifelong friends and coworkers.

He will be remembered for his intelligence, humor, dedication, unwavering curiosity, and the love he shared so generously with those around him. Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, engineer, and friend.

He is survived by his wife Jeri, of 60 years; sons Kent (Susan) Poimboeuf of Ocala, FL and Kevin Poimboeuf of Charolotte, NC. He was also loved by his nine grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
