Lloyd Gene Holt, age 94, formerly of Cocoa Beach, Florida, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, in Merritt Island, Florida.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Loverne , in 2018, and is survived by their six children, Stephen G. Holt, PhD, Colonel, U.S. Army (Retired) (Susan) of Brimfield, MA; Cheryl Sumner (Michael) of Blakely, GA; John D. Holt (Kilby) of Mills River, NC; Cynthia Stevens (Ronald) of Cocoa Beach, FL; Charis Aycock (Bill) of Orlando, FL; and Timothy B. Holt (Kimberley) of Cocoa, FL. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and a sister, JoAnn Fowler, of Dexter, MO.

Lloyd was born September 11, 1931, in Idalia, Stoddard County, MO, the son of William Jasper and Pearl Babb Holt. He was one of 9 children.

Lloyd was an avid St Louis Cardinals fan, and attended many baseball games with his sons, as well as with beloved nieces and nephews.

Lloyd and Loverne moved to Cocoa Beach from Missouri in 1965. Lloyd was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach, where he made many special and lifelong friends.

After retiring, Lloyd and Loverne began to travel the country in their travel trailer, seeing new places, as well as visiting with treasured family and friends.

Lloyd was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him, neighbors and friends in Cocoa Beach and more recently new friends made at his home at Sodalis.

Services will be held on Friday, August 14, at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, where he will be interred, and on Saturday, September 12 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Cocoa Beach.
