Madeline Hope Johnson was born August 12, 1937 and passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on April 28, 2026.
Madeline (Lynn) grew up in the northeast and graduated from Gilbert High School in Winsted Connecticut. She quickly made her way to New York and pursued a career in modeling for a short time before making her way to Florida. In 1960 she landed a job with Martin Marietta and worked her way from the secretary pool to management. At 29 years, her promotion to Manager of Support Services, was recognized as the 1st woman to hold a management position within the company's Cape Canaveral Operations. She was recognized and rewarded time and again for her outstanding work ethic and impactful results. She was a pioneer in the Aerospace industry paving the way for human space flight on the Gemini program where her accomplishments are etched in history. She retired with 33 years service from Martin Marietta in 1993 and enjoyed 33 years of retirement.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul earlier this year with 46 years of marriage. She is survived by her son Scott and wife Ada, Mom to Lori, Michael and Vanessa, nine grandchildren Chad, Ryan, Alex, Westley, Tara, Grace, Bryce, Erica, and Justin; and seventeen grandchildren, Graham and one on the way, Marley, Aidan, Canon, Quinn, Lincoln, Evelyn, Charlie, Brady, Hayden, Liam, Brooks, Trace, Lily, Jackson, and Waylon.
Lynn was blessed with many friends and quite a few lifelong friendships she cherished. She kept in contact with many from the space program as well as her childhood girlfriend. She was loved and will be missed by all, forever in our memories and hearts for her kind spirit, fun laughter and contagious smile.
