Marie Antonette Rampersad passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Marie was born on February 1st in Harlem, New York, to Christina White and William Sykes. From an early age, she demonstrated a strong work ethic and a compassionate heart. She attended business school, earning her associate degree, and went on to work at William L. Blumberg Co. as an administrative assistant and as a switchboard operator at Beth Israel Hospital, where her kindness and dedication to helping others touched countless lives.

Service to others was the hallmark of Marie's life. She devoted many years to volunteer work, giving generously of her time through Meals on Wheels, serving as a Guardian ad Litem, and supporting those in need at Daily Bread. Whether offering a warm meal, advocating for children, or extending a helping hand to someone facing hardship, Marie lived her faith through acts of love and compassion.

A devoted Catholic, Marie was an active and cherished member of Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church in Castle Hayne, North Carolina. Her faith was the foundation of her life and inspired her tireless service to her parish community. She faithfully served as a catechism teacher, led the Catholic Youth Group, and played an instrumental role in organizing and helping establish the church's annual Polish Festival, creating traditions that continue to bring people together.

Those who knew Marie knew she was a woman of conviction. She believed in discipline, accountability, and doing what was right. Family and friends often joked that she was a "sergeant" when it came to keeping everyone in line. She didn't play games, spoke her mind without hesitation, and was never one to sugarcoat the truth. With Marie, you always knew where you stood. While diplomacy wasn't always her style, honesty was—and it came from a place of deep love and genuine concern for others.

Beneath her no-nonsense exterior was a heart of gold and a spirit of extraordinary generosity. She gave freely of her time, her wisdom, and her compassion, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her strength was matched only by her kindness, and those fortunate enough to know her, experienced both the firmness that guided them and the love that sustained them.

Above all, Marie's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Frank Rampersad; her daughter, Asha Rampersad; her son, Whitney Rampersad; her daughter-in-law, Brooks Rampersad; and her treasured grandchild, Shanti Rampersad. She leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith, selfless service, fierce honesty, and unconditional love that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A funeral service celebrating Marie's life will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Island Cremations & Funeral Home, Merritt Island, Florida. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of a life so beautifully lived. There will be a viewing immediately before from 10:00 - 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Aging Matters of Brevard County in honor of Marie, supporting its mission to serve seniors throughout the community.
