Martha (Marty, Mopsy) Lee Pickett 1950 – 2026
Martha from the Aramaic: (marta') meaning "the lady, feminine form of (mar) meaning "master". In the New Testament this is the name of the sister of Lazarus and Mary of Bethany (who is sometimes identified with Mary Magdalene). She was a witness to Jesus restoring her dead brother to life.
Celebrating the Life of Martha (Marty) L. Pickett
With full hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate Martha (Marty) L. Pickett, who passed away peacefully at home with her loved ones by her side on March 16, 2026, at the age of 76. She was born on February 27, 1950, in Salisbury, MD. Marty was a bright light for all who knew her. She lived a life defined by love and generosity and a devoted member of Calvary Chapel Merritt Island.
Marty spent much of her life touching countless other lives through her work as a real estate agent in Brevard County, FL, and as a loving spouse, mother, and grandmother. Marty always had a remarkable way of making sure anyone close to her knew how much she loved and cherished them. Marty found joy in spending time with her family, and nothing made her happier than family gatherings and helping others. She will be remembered for her unwavering kindness and generous spirit.
Marty is survived by her husband Rodger and stepdaughter Gayla Schaefer; her son Ken Lankford and daughter-in-law Rachelle; her cherished grandchildren, whom she loved so generously; her mother and two brothers; and many friends, clients and loved ones who were blessed to know her.
In honor of Marty's life, a celebration will be held on March 29th at the Irean H. Canova Park Bld. Indian Harbor Beach Fla., from 11Am to 3PM where stories and memories, tears and laughter will be shared.
