Michael Horne, born May 2, 1969, entered everlasting rest on April 10, 2026. A native Floridian and resident of Brevard County, Michael will be greatly missed by a tight-knit, lifelong group of friends, as well as his neighbors in the downtown historic district of Cocoa.

As a devoted husband and father, he will be deeply missed by his wife, Lara, and his sons, Sidney, Killian, and Judah—the pride and joy of his life. A faithful provider, Michael earned a reputation for diligence and expertise in the field of civil design. He will be greatly missed by his peers and colleagues at Nelson Engineering, as well as the many others he worked with throughout his career.

Michael is also survived by his loving mother, Cathy George; his siblings, Bobby Horne and Christy Ames; and a large extended family of in-laws, relatives, and loved ones—too many to name, yet all dearly cherished. Michael's adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts and lives of those he touched. Though his time on this earth felt far too short, he lived a life full of purpose, love, and meaning. We await the day we are reunited with him.

"For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: 'Death has been swallowed up in victory.' 'Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?'"

A celebration of life will be held on May 2, 2026, at 4:30pm at Osteen Park in Merritt Island. We invite all who knew and loved Michael to join us
