Obituary

Michael Robert Teders was born on August 6, 1948 to Marjorie (Gilson) and Vincent Teders in Saginaw, Michigan. During his youth, they lived in many places across the country before eventually settling in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. An inquisitive only child, he focused on assembling and disassembling any type of electronic he could find. He was an avid ham-radio operator, talking to people all over the world. In high school he met Frances Hatting on a bus ride back from a basketball game and thus began a 60-year relationship that would ultimately include 53 years of marriage.

Mike attended the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering in 1971. He was immediately drafted into the US Army and was stationed in Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey, where he specialized in computer research. He enjoyed spending his off-time visiting New York City and attending Broadway shows. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to school at the University of Chicago earning a Master's Degree in business with an emphasis on economics.

Fran and Mike married in 1972 and began their life together in a small apartment in Chicago's Hyde Park. After college, he took a job with Corning Glass in Corning, New York and began the sport of soaring sailplanes. Their first daughter, Amanda, was born in 1974.

Shortly thereafter the family moved to Springboro, Ohio and Mike worked for NCR designing cash register computers and became a member of MENSA. Their second daughter, Jessica, was born in 1977, and son, Zachary, in 1981. They briefly transferred to New Concord, Ohio, but soon left for Florida where he began his 30-year career with Harris/GE in Melbourne. His third daughter, Victoria, was born in 1984. They settled into a house on Merritt Island where he would spend the rest of his life raising his family. His work as a Program and Proposal Manager allowed him to travel all over the world helping to design and implement computer control systems for power companies. He and Fran shared many travel adventures and brought back amazing stories to tell their children.

His family time was spent supporting his children's many activities through volunteer and coaching efforts including soccer, baseball, softball, cub scouts, St. Vincent de Paul Society, the 1996 Summer Olympics, and the Young Eagles flight program with the Experimental Aircraft Association. By the early 2000s Mike had received his pilot's license and began regularly flying his family and friends around Florida. Additionally, he spent part of the time building his own airplane and flying radio-controlled model planes.

He and Fran supported all of their children through college, while also caring for his own father. He retired from Harris/GE in 2012 with a passport full of stamps from Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America. In retirement he enjoyed traveling with Fran as well as his children and grandchildren all over country and abroad.

His last few years were surrounded with the people he loved, including his many grandchildren, and he was able to keep in touch with childhood friends, Bill, Linda, and Jack back in Pittsburgh.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Frances, his children Amanda Teders (Shane), Jessica Cline (Michael), Zachary Teders (Tera), Victoria Green (Rusty), seven grandsons: Otto, Sebastian, Harrison, Augustin, Dexter, Archer, Kyper, and one granddaughter, Ezri. And his bonus grandchildren Delaina, Calvin, and Max.

There will be a funeral mass at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Merritt Island, Florida on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 11 AM followed by interment at Georgiana Cemetery.
