Obituary

Phillip Anthony "Phil" Novak, Sr., age 90, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in Cocoa, Florida. Born on December 5, 1935, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Phil lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to family, service to his country and community, and a deep love for music.

Phil proudly served his country with honor in the United States Army. After completing his military service, he embarked on a diverse and fulfilling career. He worked as the manager of an independent auto parts store, where his knowledge and friendly demeanor earned him the respect of customers and colleagues alike. His passion for driving led him to become both a school bus driver and a motor coach operator—roles through which he safely transported countless individuals over the years.

Phil was a gifted musician & singer through much of his life and he found great joy in sharing his love of music with others. He was a member of the Brevard Chorale and a devoted choir member at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. His involvement at St. Mark's extended beyond music; he was an active member of the congregation whose cheerful spirit left a lasting impression.

Phil embraced life with enthusiasm. He enjoyed staying active at the gym well into his later years, basking in the warm Florida sunshine, and had a fondness for computer games that kept his mind sharp and engaged. A devoted fan through countless seasons, Phil's enthusiasm for sports was a central part of his life, particularly his love for the NY Giants and NY Yankees. His zest for life was evident in everything he did—from long drives to joyful melodies—and he approached each day with a happy heart and friendly smile.

Phil had a large & blended family and is lovingly remembered by his wife, MaryAlice; his children Christine (Tommy), Maureen (Russ), Phyllis (Terry), Michelle, Jessica, James (Amber), Rebecca (Zack), and John; his sister Roberta (Kurt); father-in-law Tom, brother-in-law Mark; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, his first great-great-grandchild; and his cousins, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Caroline, his beloved son Phillip, Jr., grandson Terrell; & his mother-in-law Polly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 4 Church Street, Cocoa Village, FL on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 1:00 PM. Please join the family for light refreshments and sharing of memories in St. Mark's Thursby Hall following the service.

May Phil's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire joy through the music he loved so dearly.
