Obituary

Ronnie Russell Cobb, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by family on August 16, 2026, in Melbourne, Florida, at the age of 84. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Kathie Cobb; his children, Chris (and Christine) Cobb, Wendy Van Ry, and Kelly Cobb; and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry his memory and his love with them for generations to come.

Born on July 26, 1942, Ron lived a life defined by hard work, laughter, and an unwavering love for the people around him. After high school & spending 4 years in the Air Force, he attended a 2-year turf management course at Michigan State. He spent many years as greens superintendent at Flushing Valley Country Club prior to moving to Florida. He loved it and looked forward to going to work every single day. He was, quite simply, one of the hardest-working people you could ever know. He never hesitated to give his time, his knowledge, or his helping hand to anyone who needed it. If something needed fixing, Ron knew how to fix it or at the very least, he was going to figure it out. His knowledge seemed endless. From grass and gardens to air conditioners and car engines, there wasn’t a subject he couldn’t speak about.

But beyond everything he knew and everything he could do, Ronnie will be remembered most for the person he was. He was funny - truly funny - and he had a way of making everyone around him laugh. One of the things his family loved most was the way he could laugh at himself. He never took himself too seriously, and his humor brought lightness and joy to every single moment.

BUT while Ron was loved by just about everyone, there were a couple of exceptions. If you were a dishonest, unethical or simply inept mechanic who had the misfortune of working on one of Ron's many vehicles over the years, you may have experienced a slightly different side of him. Ron knew his cars, he knew how they worked, and he was not shy about letting mechanics know when they tried to sell him something he didn’t need or when they did a poor job on his car. After all, he could have done it better himself if he’d only had the right tools. People learned quickly that Ron was not a man you wanted to disappoint. As his granddaughter once said "Can we still go there, grandpa?"

He had strong convictions and wasn’t afraid to stand by them. He knew what he believed, and he lived his life with strength and purpose. But beneath that strength was an enormous capacity for love. He loved deeply, cared fiercely, and showed that love in a thousand everyday ways- through hard work, helping hands, stories, advice, laughter, and simply being there. Ron leaves behind much more than memories. He leaves behind the lessons he taught, the things he fixed, the people he helped, the laughter he created, and the love he gave so freely.

He was truly one of a kind, and he will be missed by family and friends more than words can say. We are grateful for every laugh, every story, every helping hand, every lesson, and every moment we were lucky enough to call him ours. There will never be another Ron.

We love you and we always will.
