Stephen "Steve"
Sebesta
Jan 10, 1962 — Dec 8, 2025
Stephen (Steve) Paul Sebesta of Merritt Island, FL passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2025. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Roxanne, his sons Stephen Patrick and Christopher James, four brothers, one sister, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Steve was born in Chicago, IL but grew up in the Sunshine State. He graduated from Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, FL and from Clemson University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Steve and Roxanne met in Jacksonville while in high school and both embraced their new lives in Cape Canaveral after graduation. Steve immediately began his dream career at Kennedy Space Center. Steve quickly became an integral part of the shuttle program. He will be remembered for his work on the Columbia recovery team, his time with the Atlantis and Discovery Shuttles and Sierra Nevada and finally supporting the Boeing Dreamliner Project.
Steve retired this year from NASA as Partner Deputy Chief Engineer with many honors and recognitions, including The Silver Snoopy, Commercial Crew Unsung Hero Award, and an Exceptional Achievement Medal for his role in the shuttle program.
Steve will always be remembered for his great smile, jovial personality, his kindness to everyone and his devoted love of all animals. He loved playing golf with his brothers at our annual family golf outing, as well as he loved fishing and to talk about all the trophies, he caught but never took pictures. Steve will always be loved and missed.
The funeral service will be held at Church of Our Savior on Friday, December 19th at 10:30am.
