Obituary

Steve “Sparky” Diller, born April 14, 1962, passed away on August 19, 2026. He was the son of Sam and Jeri, both of whom preceded him in death.

Steve proudly served his country for four years in the United States Army as a cardiographic specialist.

Following his military service, Steve built a long and rewarding career as an electrician and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, IBEW Local 756. His work took him to many major projects, including Walt Disney World and numerous job sites along the East Coast, extending as far north as New Jersey.

Steve also spent many years working at Kennedy Space Center. During his time there, he contributed his skills and dedication to the Space Shuttle program, shuttle launches, and numerous other important projects at the space center. He continued working until retiring several years ago.

His lifelong profession as an electrician earned him the nickname “Sparky.” Steve was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and loyal friend. He generously volunteered much of his time to his community through American Legion Post 359 in Port St. John. As a member of the Honor Guard,

Steve proudly honored fallen service members and comrades while offering dignity, respect, and support to their families.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Nancy; his sister, Valerie; his brothers, Greg and Stewart, his twin; his sister-in-law, Betty; his loving girlfriend, Debi; Gucci’s daughter, Michelle; several nieces and nephews; and his many beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Jeri; his grandson, Junior; his longtime love, Debbie Gucci; and his faithful companion and best friend, JoJo.

Steve’s life was defined by service. He served his country in uniform, devoted his working years to building, repairing, and contributing to projects that helped shape his community and America’s space program, and gave his time generously to honor others through the American Legion Honor Guard. He carried that same spirit of loyalty and dedication into every part of his life.

To his family, Steve was a steady presence, a source of love, and a cherished part of countless memories. To his friends and community, he was someone who could be counted on—kind, hardworking, and willing to stand beside others in times of need. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the people he served, the work he took pride in, and the many lives he touched through his generosity and friendship.

Though he is deeply missed, Steve’s memory will endure in every story shared, every life he helped, and every act of service inspired by his example.

He will be remembered not only as “Sparky,” but as a devoted family man, a proud veteran, a dedicated electrician, and a faithful friend whose light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Funeral arrangements and details for a celebration of Steve’s life will be announced soon. He will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Scottsmoor, Florida.
