Obituary

Susan Nipps Townsend was born on June 26, 1955 and passed away peacefully at home on December 5, 2025 with her beloved husband, James Townsend, by her side.

Susan's greatest joy was her family. She lovingly homeschooled her children, giving herself wholeheartedly to their education and faith, with heart and devotion. She is survived by her children: Nicole Simpson (Alonzo), Sean Townsend (Anna), Todd Townsend (Ivis), and Denielle O'Sullivan (Sean); by her grandchildren: Caleb Simpson (Lateja), Jeffrey Townsend, Donavan Townsend, Jacob Tautiva, Mattias Townsend, Declan O'Sullivan, and Emory O'Sullivan; and by her great-grandchildren: Nyla Simpson and Ariyah Simpson.

Susan was preceded in death by her brothers, Dick Campbell and Michael Campbell. She is survived by her brothers Bob Campbell, Dan Campbell, and William Nipps.

Susan lived life with energy, courage, and deep purpose, rooted above all in her unwavering love for and commitment to Jesus Christ. Her faith was the foundation of her life and guided her actions, her service to others, and her devotion to her family. She was deeply involved in her church, where she faithfully served as Sunday School Superintendent and led Children's Church, joyfully sharing her faith and nurturing the spiritual lives of countless children.

An avid exerciser, Susan treasured her daily runs and walks on the beach as well as in her neighborhood, where she made lasting friendships. She had a rare gift for community, formed through consistency, kindness, and genuine care for others.

Adventurous and disciplined, Susan embraced life fully. She rode motorcycles, was a certified scuba diver, an enthusiastic backpacker, and earned a second-degree black belt. She was also a devoted gardener who found great joy in nurturing her plants and raising butterflies, reflecting her love for life and creation.

Susan worked in both real estate and retail, where her vibrant personality and gift for connection made a lasting impact. A true social butterfly, she brought warmth, laughter, and authenticity to every interaction. Her presence was unforgettable—especially to those who visited the Home Depot paint department, where everyone knew Sue.

Susan loved life deeply and loved her family fiercely. Her strong faith in Jesus Christ, boundless energy, compassion, and joy will be forever remembered by all who knew her. Sue is now home in heaven, where she awaits her loved ones, reunited and surrounded by her mother and those who have gone before her, resting in the peace and promise of eternal life.
