Werner Andreas
Oster
Jan 13, 1951 — May 13, 2026
Born January 13, 1951 in Neiuweid Germany to Maria and Jackob Oster, sister to Rosewitha. Werner went peacefully to heaven on May 13, 2026. Survived by his husband Brian P. (Daggett) Oster. 33 years of sharing everything life had to offer, the last one fighting a battle of lung cancer to the very end.
Werner completed his education then began his journey to becoming an accomplished chef as an apprentice in Koblenz, then to the Four Seasons Hotel in Hamburg. After that he was ready to build experience and travel the world. From Majorca Spain, to The Carlton Beach Hotel Bermuda, St. Thomas USVI, Australia and Freeport Bahama all while learning Spanish and English languages. At the age of 25, in Freeport he met Betty and Norman Siegel who convinced Werner and his future business partner Hans Unger to come to Florida and start their own restaurant In Cape Canaveral. This became the premier dining establishment in Brevard County from 1976 to 1984, when he moved the Phoenix to Satellite Beach and thrived for decades.
Along the way Werner wined and dined with the best of Brevard and their guests. He was a trainer and mentor to many young chefs with whom he kept up with and advised throughout their careers. He loved his Dobermans, cruises, RV trips, walking at the beach, champagne, travel, entertaining and so much more with Brian and friends. We all remember the kind, gentle and caring soul of Werner, along with his many gifts and talents that made him the special man he was and a pleasure to have known.
May he rest in peace, wrapped in love forever.
