William S. Fyvie, 81, of Viera, Fl passed away at home on June 19, 2026. Born in Schenectady, NY on June 19th, 1944 he was the son of the late Robert J. Fyvie and Nancy J. Fyvie (née Nicastro).

Born in Schenectady, NY he graduated from Linton High School, class of 1962. The following year, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and qualified for submarine service. A Navy Mustang, he rose through the ranks acquiring, among other awards, National Defense Service Medals, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal. He retired as Lieutenant Commander in the Submarine Force to move back to his hometown and take care of family. Retirement was detoured after he was asked by Frank J. Duci to serve as his deputy mayor. After serving as deputy mayor of Schenectady (1994-1996), he continued his service to the city as purchasing agent before moving on as Director of Schenectady County Veterans Affairs where he earned the certifications and accreditation necessary to fight for his veterans’ claims in court (1997-2006).

He was recently predeceased on April 30th of this year by his beloved wife of 52 years, Karen S. (Susie) Fyvie (née Stone) with whom he is now reunited in eternity. He was also predeceased by his parents, his sister Grace C. Wood, and his brother Robert J. Fyvie Jr. He is survived by his daughters Wendy Desharnais, and Tami Pennock and his son Sean Fyvie, grandsons Andrew Schavone, Travis Pennock, Brandon Desharnais, and Joey Desharnais, granddaughters Kristin Rapp, Lexi Desharnais, and Santina Fyvie, 3 great grandsons, and 2 great granddaughters.
